Philippe Buckland

Patrick "Lucky 7" Farley

(Philippe Buckland)
When his luck ran dry, he made his own.
A tough, hard working nighthawk, Lucky 7 left town years ago to keep a secret safe for the family, and no one could know anything about it. That's the way the Mob wanted it as part of the deal to keep Lucky's father's name intact and the family still in control of The Emerald Isle Club.

Nine years later, like Lazarus returning from the dead, Lucky comes back and his arrival sets off a series of tragic events; but coming back to town may also have given him something else: a second chance at love and the hope of building a home for himself with Julia.

Vaguely based on a Philippe Marlowe style character- Lucky's return and quest for the "truth" is really a journey of redemption.

Rachel MacMillan

Julia

She's attracted to the edge Lucky brings to her life, but understands there are consequences because she was once also at rock bottom. She lives a self-realized life, but it is never unchanging or perfect. Left alone at a young age with the death of her parents- the music and structure of the church were something for her to cling onto when times were dark and lonely. Lucky is her pipeline to putting faith in a flesh and blood person again at a personal level and not fearing it will be snatched away from her as it was in the past. Red is her colour- to represent the fire of the spirit that burns within her and helps light the way back home for Lucky.

Her real name is Viviane Lorraine and she just may be Julia's opposite. Her colour will be white - but will shift to red as her character arcs and her true nature is revealed. Julias parents may be dead-but Viviane's wish she were dead-a more tragic fate in a way. Modeled on a classic femme fatale, the nurse might know what's right and what's wrong, but what's wrong tastes oh-so good. She enjoys the sinful pleasures of life in a quest for human contact and a sense of self-worth, but it is twisted around backwards. She is afraid of Andreoli and being abandoned- but she can see nothing else on the horizon. Until Lucky and Julia appear and events unfold that test her inner strength and she finds something within that she thought was lost forever; and nothing Andreoli can threaten to do can take it from her.
